A woman has died in a water-related event east of Auckland, on Labour Day.
Police said the woman was in her 40s.
"Emergency services were called to the scene around 3:30pm," they said in a statement.
Attempts were made to resuscitate the woman, but she died at the scene.
A man with "severe injuries" was taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning but died soon after.
A body has been found in the water near the coastal Lower Hutt suburb of Eastbourne.
