Missing Lake Taupō jetskier's body found

The body of a jetskier who went missing on Lake Taupō has been found.

Taupō Police Senior Sergeant Andy Livingstone said they received a report around 12.40pm on Sunday of a person or people on a jetski in trouble.

Police and coastguard helped a person to shore, but a second person was seen struggling in the water.

The person's body was recovered by the Police Dive Squad this afternoon.

Police said the death will be referred to the Coroner.

Local iwi have placed a rāhui on the Nukuhau / Acacia Bay area of the lake for the next few days, police said.
