Wellington nurse Vanron Ngoun has been found in Bangkok, alive and well.
Close friends of 60-year-old Vanron Ngoun had been "extremely concerned" after not hearing from him for two weeks.
Flatmate Clive Aspin said Ngoun , who had been on holiday in Europe, was last heard from in Naples, Italy, on 27 May.
He had been sending updates then the messages stopped, which was out of character.
His family had been extremely concerned after not hearing from him for two weeks.
Aspin said Ngoun had been found safe and well Bangkok late last night but he was unable to communicate as his phone had been stolen.
He told Morning Report it was great news he was safe.
"We're really really relieved - we're extremely happy."
Aspin was grateful to media for their coverage of the disappearance.
It had spurred people in several parts of the world to look for Ngoun.
"We are so lucky that people took the story on board and spread it around the world."
It turned out the missing man had his phone stolen in Naples in Italy.
He was unable to replace it before boarding a flight.
Aspin has friends in Thailand and sent them clippings of the coverage.
They went looking on foot in different parts of Bangkok.
"They went to one place where he has usually been in the past and there he was - sitting looking healthy as well."
Aspin's relatives were also looking for him in Italy.
He was also grateful Prime Minister Christopher Luxon expressed his concern about Ngoun.
