Emergency services have responded to a car on fire on State Highway 1 in Wellington.
Police said the car on fire was on the side of the motorway between the Churton Park-Glenside on-ramp and the Johnsonville off-ramp.
It said the far right lane was open to traffic, but traffic was flowing slowly.
Fire and Emergency said two fire trucks responded to the blaze, which was well involved when they arrived and had since been extinguished.
FENZ said one of the responding trucks happened to be heading to Porirua Station at the time and responded en-route.
