The Taranaki Rugby Union is investigating a serious brawl at a match between two teams in its premier men's competition.
The union's community rugby manager Cole Brown said legal advice has been sought and evidence collected to determine the exact nature of the fight and how many people were involved.
The fight happened after a match between the Tukapa and Spotswood United sides.
Mr Brown said no-one was injured. The fight was not referred to the police.
The union would not say whether spectators were involved.
Mr Brown said the union was taking what happened seriously and it would be considered by its judiciary on Wednesday.
It was a rare and isolated incident that had no place in the game, he said.
