Now the MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Wednesday

The Situation

A ridge of high pressure extends across the Tasman Sea and covers Aoteoroa/ New Zealand this weekend.

Looking at the weather to midnight tomorrow

Northland to Horowhenua Kapiti Coast, including Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, and the central high country

Mainly fine. Partly cloudy tomorrow morning, with a few showers in the west from Northland to Waikato.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Wellington

Mainly fine. Becoming partly cloudy with a shower or two tomorrow.

Nelson and Marlborough

Mainly fine. Partly cloudy later tomorrow, with isolated showers about the ranges.

Buller, Grey and Westland

Cloudy periods and isolated showers, clearing Westland this afternoon and elsewhere tomorrow morning.

Canterbury

Mainly fine today. Showers developing tomorrow morning, then fine breaks returning tomorrow afternoon.

Fiordland, Southland and Otago

Cloudy periods with occasional showers, but fine about Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes. Showers clearing elsewhere tomorrow and fine spells developing.

Chatham Islands

Cloudy periods and a few showers, mainly during the afternoons.

And the outlook for the following three days...

Monday

North Island: Fine, apart from a few showers in Hawke's Bay and Gisborne South Island: Fine, except for a few showers in Westland and Fiordland, turning to rain in Fiordland in the evening.

Tuesday

North Island: Fine in the east. Partly cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere. South Island: Rain spreading north, with heavy falls possible in the west. Easing to showers in the south.

Wednesday

North Island: A few showers, mainly in the south and east. South Island: Fine, or becoming fine in the west. Showers elsewhere, gradually easing.

And at the Chathams

Cloudy periods and a few showers, clearing late Monday but returning late Tuesday. Strong southwesterlies, easing late Monday, then turning strong northwest on Tuesday. Changing southwest again early Wednesday.
