A southerly flow eases as a ridge of high pressure spreads across the country today and remains in place on Monday.
Looking at the weather to midnight tomorrow
Northland to Wellington, including Bay of Plenty and the central High country
Fine apart from isolated showers about the Far North this morning and cloudy periods about Northland and Auckland tomorrow.
Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa
Cloudy periods and a few showers, clearing Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay this evening and elsewhere tomorrow afternoon.
Marlborough and Nelson, also Grey and Westland
Fine today, cloud increasing tomorrow.
Buller
Partly cloudy with isolated showers developing this afternoon, clearing tomorrow afternoon.
Canterbury
Cloudy, with drizzle inland, becoming fine this evening. Mainly fine tomorrow with areas of fog or low cloud morning and night.
Otago and Southland apart from Stewart Island
Mainly fine, areas of frost and fog tomorrow morning.
Fiordland and Stewart Island
Partly cloudy, isolated showers developing this evening.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy periods and isolated showers, clearing tomorrow.

North Island: Fine apart from isolated showers in the south and north. South Island: Rain in Fiordland. Partly cloudy with showers in the west. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Wednesday
North Island: Fine, apart from isolated showers in the north and west. South Island: Isolated showers in the east and south. Occasional rain elsewhere.
Thursday
North Island: Rain developing in the north. Fine in the east, isolated showers elsewhere. South Island: Rain with heavy falls for most. Isolated showers developing in the north and east.
Friday
North Island: Rain with heavy falls, easing in the south. South Island: Rain with heavy falls from Otago northwards, clearing early. Showers developing for Fiordland and Southland, mainly fine elsewhere.
And at the Chathams
Partly cloudy, becoming fine on Thursday. Rain developing late Friday. Southwesterlies turning northwest on Tuesday. Northwesterlies strengthening on Thursday and rising to gale on Friday.
