1.30 WOMAD conversations - Mdou Moctar
Mdou Moctar is a Tuareg songwriter and musician based in Agadez, Niger, who performs modern rock music inspired by Tuareg guitar music.
He’s an incredibly talented musician who is not shy of taking his music out into the world. As one reviewer labelled his performances as "rusty-edged jams and sun-weathered ballads”
Trevor Reekie spoke to Mdou before his show at Womad 2023
2.10 Wednesday - Rat Saw God
Wednesday is an American rock band from Asheville, North Carolina.
Formed in 2017 The band started as the personal songwriting project of singer Karly Hartzman,
They sound like so many 90s grunge and shoegaze bands, but with a twist of classic country twang.
Their new album Rat Saw God is out now on Dead Oceans, and it has already been named Billboard Magazine’s Must-Hear Indie Artist of the Month and Consequence’s Artist of the Month.

3.30 Cushla Dillon on the King Loser Documentary
King Loser were an alternative rock band formed in 1992 by couple Chris Heazlewood (guitar, vocals) and Celia Mancini and Signed to Flying Nun Records.
King Loser split up in 1997, and briefly reformed in 2016 and on this reunion tour started filming a documentary.
It was never released - but now, following the tragic death of Celia Mancini, a new team of people have come on board, including Cushla Dillon who is editing the film.
Charlotte Ryan spoke to the editor Cushla Dillon about the film.

She is a graduate of Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School, where she earned a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Acting.
You may have seen her as host of The Great Kiwi Bake Off and the ‘Have you been paying attention’
She has won multiple comedy awards – many when she performs piano and sings her comedy
And this month has a solo show a the NZ Comedy festival show Ailments.
